I'm so glad you're here. I'd love to introduce myself.
I help women with chronic conditions overcome self-judgement and heal pain through self-compassion and mindful, healthy lifestyle changes that support an inspired and vibrant life.
For several years I’ve been exploring how mindset, thought work, and practicing self-compassion creates a deeper and healing connection with your body and yourself. I want to share that with you.
My podcast, Positively Anti-Inflammatory, was created for people who want to keep inflammation down and their spirits up! I am sharing my voice, love, personal experience, and professional expertise in order to be of service to you on your healing journey.
Fun Facts About Me:
When I’m not podcasting, writing my weekly bulletins, or working with clients, I can be found in my kitchen baking gluten/grain/dairy free treats (yum. I find baking meditative and grounding), shopping at the farmers market (supporting local and connecting with farmers makes me happy), and listening to music and podcasts.
I’m a HUGE music fan and right now (and let’s face it, ever since I was a teenager in the 80’s) I’ve been listening to lots of Tom Petty, plus 70’s & 80’s alternative rock and 80’s new wave are my go-to music genres! My other listening favorite is my home state’s Minnesota Public Radio station, The Current 89.3. Their morning show is the best.
I’ve lived in NYC since 2000, but I still consider myself a midwestern gal at heart.
I’m totally over the words “hustle” and “should.” I love the words “rest” and “open heart.”
Some of my core values are creativity, spirituality, health, knowledge, compassion, and community.
I’ve been a professional burlesque performer since 2004.
For a number of years I toured the world full-time, all over North America, Europe and Australia, performing at venues ranging from tiny dive bars to grand 19th century concert halls.
Two of my favorite places I’ve traveled to and performed in are Stockholm, Sweden and Port Townsend, WA.
The air in Stockholm is the freshest I’ve ever breathed. I had the opportunity to perform in two of their stunning historic venues, the golden 1930s Nalen Ballroom and the 1886 exquisite Vasa Theatre. I also loved the quaint seaport town of Port Townsend, WA. After our show in a local restaurant, we stayed in an old, haunted brothel. And yes, I actually experienced a ghost!
How I became a Functional Nutritional Therapist & Wellness Coach:
In 2017 I was certified as a Functional Nutritional Therapist. I came to this new career through my own healing journey.
In 2000, I was diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis. This is an autoimmune chronic disease in which the immune system attacks healthy cells and joints in the body. This causes inflammation, which can result in chronic pain and fatigue.
After years of intentionally working to incorporate holistic heart-centered lifestyle practices, I've transformed my health and my life.
I chose to make significant lifestyle changes including emotional, spiritual, and mindset practices. Daily stretching, gentle yoga, and guided meditation became a top priority. I changed my nutrition and diet, focusing on nutrient density, and even started eating meat after 30 years of being a pescatarian.
I have turned my life around from living with chronic pain, fatigue and stress to living a vibrant, optimistic, life full of love, happiness, and gratitude.
