Are you a “morning person”?
What is a morning person anyway?
When I think of a morning person, I think of someone who wakes up “early,” feeling perky, refreshed, and eager to take on the day.
No matter what time you get up or how you actually feel when you do, what you choose to do to start the day sets the tone for your day.
Over the past several months, I've been crafting a morning routine I would love to share with you in the hopes that it will inspire you to kick-start your day in a more intentional and mindful way.
This routine ranges from 5 to 20 minutes depending upon whether I’m doing a guided meditation.
The purpose of a morning routine is to give yourself a mindful and calming start.
Do you want a mindful and calming start to your day? I suspect YES!
And, yes, 5-20 minutes is always available to you.
Here’s my morning routine, feel free to personalize!
I wake up, go to the bathroom, and brush my teeth.
I get back into bed and do a short guided meditation. I love the free app “Insight Timer.”
Make my bed (OMG, life feels so much better when you make your bed!)
Make a mug of warm lemon water.
Sit down with my warm lemon water, a pen, and my notebook.
Write 3 things I am grateful for. It can be simple like, "I am grateful I mopped my floors last night." (Truth!)
Write 3 things that would make today great. For example, "What would make today great is going for a walk and listening to my favorite podcast."
Daily affirmation I write what comes from my heart like, “I am lovable and worthy of love.” Or, “I am safe.”
Daily intention Choose something that you can say or do that will help support you TODAY, such as, “Today I am focusing on forgiveness and letting go with love."
This is what it looks like in my notebook:
I am grateful for 1. 2. 3.
What would make today great 1. 2. 3.
Daily affirmation:
Today’s daily intention:
