Happy Valentine’s Day!
We can all benefit from more love in our lives today (and every day!). Especially self-love, don’t you think?
Your relationship with yourself is the most important and longest relationship you’ll ever have. No matter where you fall on the self-love spectrum I am recommending, How to Love Yourself: 5 Self-Love Tips
1. Ask yourself, How can I love myself more?
Use this as a journal prompt. Write it down, ponder, write out your answer(s) and then follow through on what you wrote.
2. Practice gratitude
Gratitude truly is one of the simplest ways to focus on the good in yourself and in your life. Practicing Gratitude creates mindfulness around appreciating and loving yourself and your life. Write down 3 things you’re grateful for.
3. Write yourself a love letter
A key part of this exercise is writing to yourself in third person. Begin with Dear (your name), and write down every little thing that makes you unique and show yourself love. Here are some prompts
I'm proud of you because...
You are awesome because...
I love how you…
I love how you're passionate about…
I know you feel loved when…
I love you because...
I appreciate you because...
You are beautiful because...
You are unlike anyone else because...
I’m thankful to you because…
4. Take Care Of Your Body
What is one thing you can do today to take care of your body? Eating a nutritious meal? Making time for physical activity that you enjoy? Staying hydrated? Getting into bed early so you can get a solid night’s sleep? Taking an epsom salt bath? Whatever it is, take time to do it today.
5. Talk to yourself as you would a child
We have a constant inner dialogue that is either contributing to self-love or preventing it. You can change the way you see yourself and treat yourself by changing that inner dialogue. To talk to yourself more kindly and with more self-love, try speaking to yourself as you would to a child. We’re often more forgiving, compassionate, and loving when speaking to children than when speaking to adults. You might even look at your childhood pictures if that helps you.
