Whenever I get a massage, I try to be mindful and open with my energy to receive healing.
As I went into a massage last month, however, I was experiencing fear and anxiety because my mom’s heart valve replacement was the following day. I knew that energy would not benefit me or my mom.
I decided to say ”I am” affirmations during my massage and had a new realization about the power of “I am” statements.
“I am” is one of the most powerful statements we can make because whatever follows “I am” defines who you believe you are.
How often do we find ourselves caught up in negative self-talk such as: I am not good enough. I am damaged. I am broke. I am a failure. I am alone.
What are your typical “I am” statements?
During the massage, to show love and support, I began repeating in my mind:
I AM GRATEFUL.
Then, a switch occurred, and I thought:
I AM GRATITUDE.
When I envisioned & embodied - I AM GRATITUDE – it expanded the feeling and energy more deeply than saying, I am grateful.
I realized that instead of saying the adjective, grateful, that saying the noun, gratitude had more impact.
I then thought about the difference in saying, I am abundant, with I AM ABUNDANCE. It felt significant.
Later that day at home, I wrote in my journal a list of powerful “I am” statements using nouns including
I AM LOVE.
I AM GENEROSITY.
I AM PATIENCE.
I AM KINDNESS.
I AM COMPASSION.
There is a subtle yet profound shift in energy when saying “I am generosity” or “I am patience,” compared to saying I am generous or I am patient.
Can you feel the difference?
Words are powerful and we have the choice to use them in ways that enhance self-growth, self-compassion, and self-love.
When you begin to consciously utilize the power of “I AM” statements, your life will transform.
