Spirituality vs. Woo

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

I consider myself a spiritual person and have always had a relationship and connection with God, holding my own personal interpretation and understanding of what God represents.

I am curious about the wonders of the universe and all things metaphysical, mystical, and intangible including energy healing, chakras, astrology, numerology, crystals, intuition and emotion-based beliefs and explanations.

(Hey, feel free to ask me about my experience with haunted places and ghosts!)

Given this, you’d think I’d be strutting around the streets of NYC with a “Woo-Woo AF” t-shirt!

But nope. The terms “woo-woo” and “woo” bother me and kind of make me feel uncomfortable.

However, so many people resonate and identify with “woo” as a way to express themselves, their right-brain sensibilities, and their beliefs in and openness to new age, mystical, intuitive, and spiritual practices and ideas.

Okay, what am I missing here? What’s with “woo”?

I needed to get to the bottom of this. So, to explore this topic, I turned to my good friend and Healing Arts Practitioner, Anna Brooke, and invited her back on my podcast, Positively Anti-Inflammatory.

You’ll want to listen to episode 82, “Spirituality vs. Woo With Anna Brooke'' for a lively and exploratory discussion about the concepts of spirituality and woo. In our candid conversation, Anna and I consider what these concepts mean and how we relate to them. We discuss how incorporating them into our lives has the potential to enhance our sense of meaning by helping us find a deeper connection to ourselves, others, nature, and the universe.

Whether you consider yourself spiritual, woo, both or neither, I highly recommend checking out this podcast episode.

Love, Your Wellness Coach,

Alyssa

P.S. I believe spirituality plays an integral role in holistic health and healing. If your relationship with yourself is disrupted or unsettled, this can create imbalance in your mind, body, and spirit. I love helping people nurture and heal their relationship with themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If this is you, let’s talk. Email me to set up a call.
