What if we put that same energy into loving and caring for ourselves?
You’ve heard of the “5 Love Languages”? The concept identifies 5 ways we give and receive love in relationships.
What about self-love?
We understand the necessity of self-love in wellness and healing, but we might need a reminder.
So let's apply the 5 Love Languages to Self-Love.
1. Words of Affirmation: Think or Speak Self-Love
Verbal expressions of love, encouragement, and praise.
Look in the mirror and give yourself a compliment.
Write a love letter to your younger or future self
Create a gratitude list
2. Acts of Service: Do Self-Love
Showing yourself love through your actions.
Cook yourself a delicious meal
Declutter your space
Give yourself permission to do nothing at all
3. Quality Time: Being Present with Self-Love
Giving yourself your undivided attention, prioritizing yourself, and doing something you enjoy.
Visit a museum
Take an art class
Watch the sunset
4. Physical Touch: Feel Self-Love
Doing things that will make your body feel good and increase your physical wellbeing.
Stretch and self-massage
Take a bath with epsom salts
Give yourself a hug
5. Receiving Gifts: Absorb Self-Love
There are many ways to give yourself gifts.
Take yourself to get a manicure or pedicure
Invest in your education like taking a workshop you’re interested in
Buy yourself flowers
When you identify and understand your self-love languages, it gives you a deeper awareness of how to meet your own needs and this is awesome!
